In order to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Tourism Industry of the Maldives, the Ministry of Tourism has begun a countdown for the Golden Jubilee Year of Maldives Tourism 2022. The countdown commenced on 1st of January 2021.
The countdown will take place via Ministry’s social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook by featuring video messages of the industry pioneers, senior stakeholders and other relevant parties. The celebration will happen throughout the year from 1st January to 31st December 2021.
Golden Jubilee Year of Maldives Tourism 2022 was kicked off with a tweet of a video message from George Corbin, who was amongst one of the very first tourists visited Maldives in 1972. He also played a very important role in the establishment of tourism in Maldives. Kurumba Maldives now, previously known as Vihamanaafushi (name of the uninhabited island) is the very first resort opened in Maldives.
Tourism Ministry is under discussion with the industry stakeholders and planning the future activities for a grand celebration of the Golden Jubilee Year of Maldives Tourism 2022.
